- A week
Good to know
- Usually only purchases count. Fees, cash advances and balance transfers don’t, and returns come off the total.
- Only spend what you would anyway. Interest on a balance you can’t pay off can cost more than the bonus is worth.
- Your card’s terms say exactly when the window starts and ends. Check them if you’re cutting it close.

Questions
When does the spending window start?
It depends on the card. Some count from the day you’re approved, others from when the account opens or the card is activated. Your card’s terms say which, and the issuer’s app often shows your progress.
What counts toward the minimum spend?
Usually only purchases. Annual fees, interest, cash advances and balance transfers generally don’t count, and anything you return comes off the total.
When will my bonus show up?
Usually 6–8 weeks after you qualify, often after the statement that takes you over the line. If it hasn’t posted by then, check your statement and contact the card issuer.
Why does the plan finish a week early?
Purchases can take a few days to post to your account, and the issuer counts the date they post. Finishing a week early leaves room for that.
Do you see what I enter?
No. The planner works on this page, in your browser. Amounts are never sent anywhere, and calendar reminders carry only the dates.
